In preparation for Eid-al-Adha, the Delhi government is deploying rapid response teams throughout the city's 13 districts. These teams are tasked with ensuring that the transportation, sale, and sacrifice of animals comply with established welfare regulations.

Development Minister Kapil Mishra directed the creation of these teams under the Animal Husbandry Unit. On Tuesday, inspections were conducted across North-West, North-East, North, Central, South-West, and West Delhi, according to an official statement. The teams have been instructed to act promptly in cases of guideline violations.

Mishra emphasized strict adherence to animal welfare laws during the May 28 festival, asserting that illegal sacrifices will not be tolerated. He stated that public sale and purchase of animals are banned, and sacrifices are limited to authorized sites.

Further, the advisory bans cow, calf, camel, and other prohibited animal sacrifices. Residents are urged to comply with these rules. Livestock owners, traders, and transporters are being educated on safe animal handling practices, ensuring no cruelty during transports and adherence to licensed selling points for meat.

Disposal of animal remains in public drains or sewage systems is prohibited. The public is encouraged to report any infringements to nearby police stations, as per the advisory.
