IIMC has clarified that admissions to all MA and PG Diploma programmes will be conducted exclusively through the e-counselling process.
Three New MA Programmes Introduced
This year marks a significant expansion in IIMC's academic offerings with the introduction of three new postgraduate degree programmes. The newly launched courses are MA in Health Communication, MA in Media and Communication Governance, and MA in Corporate Communication and Brand Management.
According to Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Kumar Goswami, Admission Incharge and Controller of Examinations, the addition of these programmes increases IIMC's MA offerings to six across its campuses in New Delhi, Dhenkanal, Aizawl, Amravati, Jammu and Kottayam. Alongside the MA courses, the institute continues to offer its four long-established PG Diploma programmes in English Journalism, Hindi Journalism, Radio and Television Journalism, and Advertising and Public Relations.
Eligibility Criteria and Admission Requirements
Indian nationals holding a bachelor's degree with at least 55% marks and a valid CUET-PG score in Mass Communication and Journalism (COQP17) are eligible to apply for the MA programmes. Graduates with a valid CUET-PG score in the same subject can apply for the PG Diploma programmes.
The institute has also specified age limits for PG Diploma admissions. Candidates from the General category must not be older than 25 years as of 1 August 2026. The upper age limit is 28 years for OBC candidates and 30 years for SC, ST and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates. Applicants have been advised to carefully read the admission notice, prospectus and process guidelines before submitting their applications. The institute has cautioned candidates to select their preferred programmes and campuses carefully during registration, as requests to modify preferences after submission will not be accepted.
Important Documents and Fee Details
Candidates allotted seats will be required to pay a seat acceptance fee of Rs. 20,000 to confirm admission. The remaining tuition fee must be paid within the prescribed timeframe to complete the admission process. Applicants must submit their high school certificate for verification of date of birth, along with their final graduation mark sheet. Students awaiting final graduation results may still participate in the admission process, but will need to submit the required documents within the stipulated deadline set by the institute.
Candidates belonging to reserved categories who are unable to provide caste certificates during admission may submit an undertaking and furnish the certificate within the specified period. IIMC has advised applicants to regularly visit its official website for updates regarding admissions and counselling schedules. Queries related to admissions can be sent to admissions@iimc.gov.in.
