Taking a jibe at the anti-BJP alliance forged by the opposition parties in Uttar Pradesh, Union minister Uma Bharti on Monday said the life of the 'gathbandhan' is very small. "The life of this gathbandhan is very small. In this gathbandhan, the gaanth (knots) are not of turmeric, but of poison," she said in Kannauj.

Bharti also hit out at BSP chief Mayawati, saying she has forged an alliance in "greed of power". "Mayawati has forgotten the dignity of the women and has forged an alliance in greed of power. The alliance will not be successful. All of a sudden, one family has emerged in the country, which is willing to go to any extent for power, and forge an alliance," she said.

She accused the BSP, SP and Congress of indulging in dynastic politics. "Today Akhilesh Yadav, Mayawati and Rahul Gandhi are doing

politics while drawing strength from family politics and on the basis of caste. They are not concerned about the country and their sole aim is to plunder the country and fill their pockets.

"These families have looted the state and have pushed back the people from backward communities," she said.
