Ongoing construction of Tanzania’s modern Mbezi bus terminal to end in 18 months

After a long wait, the construction of Mbezi bus terminal in Tanzania has officially begun. Recently, working men were observed fencing the area by iron sheets, which is a sign that construction as commenced.
A Chinese firm has already fenced the area. The firm named Hignan Construction Company has also erected sign boards and set the equipment ready for next stage of construction.
According to Construction Review Online, the modern Mbezi bus terminal will be constructed bigger and spacious to ensure congestion-free. The commuters and traders will also benefit greatly due to the high number of buses that the terminal will serve. The government of Tanzania has earmarked an average investment of Sh50.9 billion to be utilized using the Ubungo bus terminal being relocated to the new Mbezi terminal.
The Dar es Salaam City Council director Sipora Liana has said that the city has already paid a total of Sh8.5 billion compensations to 67 residents for phase one, whereas the process of further payments is still on the way.
The new upcoming Mbezi bus terminal is expected to serve 700 buses daily. The construction is likely to take around 18 months since now.
