Half a century has passed since socialist leader Jayaprakash Narayan called for 'Sampoorna Kranti' on June 5, 1974, at Gandhi Maidan. Addressing a massive audience, he declared, ''...it is a Total Revolution we want, nothing less.''

Five decades later, the legend of 'JP' remains alive in political speeches, statues, and named landmarks throughout Bihar. Under 'JP's leadership, the movement crystallized into a demand for the resignation of Indira Gandhi's government, catalyzing events leading to the Emergency.

On Wednesday, Patna district administration paid homage to 'Loknayak' Narayan at his statue near Gandhi Maidan. His enduring legacy is etched in several public facilities and thoroughfares bearing his name, reflecting immense respect for his contribution to social justice and revolutionary movement.
