BRS Tops Regional Party Income Chart for 2022-23: ADR Report

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) topped the income chart among regional parties for the fiscal year 2022-23, according to the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR). BRS reported an income of Rs 737.67 crore. The ADR analysis also highlighted income and expenditure details of 39 out of 57 regional parties.

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has emerged as the top-earning regional party for the financial year 2022-23, citing an income of Rs 737.67 crore, which constitutes 42.38 per cent of the total income of regional parties, according to the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).

The ADR report detailed the income and expenditure for 39 out of 57 regional parties, revealing that All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) spent the most, with an expenditure of Rs 181.18 crore. YSR Congress followed with Rs 79.32 crore, and BRS spent Rs 57.47 crore. Other significant spenders include DMK and the Samajwadi Party.

The analysis showed that voluntary contributions, including donations and electoral bonds, were the primary income sources, amounting to Rs 1,522.46 crore. The ADR has recommended stricter deadlines for annual audited accounts submissions and greater transparency in political funding.
