Ukraine Downs All 89 Russian Drones in Major Nighttime Attack

Ukrainian forces successfully shot down all 89 Shahed drones launched by Russia in a significant nighttime assault. The attack primarily targeted Kyiv, and no damage or injuries were reported. Both nations have increasingly utilized explosive drones, with Ukraine employing Soviet-era aircraft and electronic jamming to counteract them.

Ukrainian forces reported a significant victory after shooting down all 89 Shahed drones launched by Russia during a nighttime attack on the nation. This event marks one of the largest drone strikes this year and mainly targeted the Kyiv region.

No damage or injuries were reported following the assault. Russia had previously used the same number of Shahed drones in an attack on January 1, according to the Ukrainian air force.

Anatolii Khrapchynskyi, an aviation expert in Kyiv, stated that Ukraine's Soviet-era aircraft utilized electronic jamming against the drones' GPS, forcing them to fly at higher altitudes, making them easier to shoot down. He added that this tactic would likely continue when U.S.-made F-16 fighter jets arrive.

In a simultaneous operation, Ukrainian forces reported striking more military targets on Russian soil, hitting a warehouse for weapon storage and military equipment in the border region of Kursk.
