The BJP sharply criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday for evading media queries regarding the Kolkata doctor rape-and-murder case. They labeled his refusal to comment an 'insult to the victim and all women.'
While in Uttar Pradesh's Raebareli to meet the family of a 22-year-old Dalit man who was recently shot dead, Gandhi deflected questions about the Kolkata incident, stating he would address the matter in the future as he did not want to be distracted from the current issue.
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla condemned Gandhi’s response in a social media post, questioning why 'justice for daughter' would be considered a distraction. BJP co in-charge for West Bengal, Amit Malviya, also criticized Gandhi, calling him 'shameless and spineless.'
