The Raipur City South assembly constituency in Chhattisgarh witnessed a voter turnout of 46.43 percent until 5 pm during its bypoll on Wednesday, according to officials.
The bypoll presented a showdown primarily between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition Congress, among 30 candidates contesting.
Voting, which began at 7 am and concluded at 6 pm, proceeded smoothly under tight security, with no incidents reported, officials confirmed.
