In a recent press briefing, Congress leader Pawan Khera accused Assam's Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, of holding the title of India's most corrupt chief minister since independence. Khera alleged that Sarma anticipates defeat in the upcoming assembly polls and is using police and the Election Commission to manipulate the electoral process.

Khera further contended that the Special Revision of electoral rolls seeks to include voters from outside Assam, compromising local voting rights and integrity. He criticized the alleged influx of BJP workers from other regions, purportedly influencing the forthcoming elections in Sarma's favor.

Khera expressed confidence that the media would expose the corruption of Sarma and his family. The Congress party demanded transparency regarding Sarma's acquisitions over the past seven years while rallying for change in Assam under the leadership of Gaurav Gogoi. Sarma has not addressed these allegations yet.
