Sanjay Raut, a Shiv Sena MP, has called on the Congress to reconsider its decision to contest the upcoming Mumbai civic body polls independently. Raut argued that such a move might inadvertently boost the BJP's chances in the election.
Speaking after a brief hiatus for medical reasons, Raut stressed the importance of including Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena in the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance. He cited the previous month's Bihar polls, where the Congress underperformed, as a case for unity. Raut announced plans to meet with the Congress high command in December to advocate for a united front in Mumbai.
Raut also condemned the BJP for allegedly corrupting Maharashtra's electoral culture, claiming monetary influence in the elections. He expressed concern over the state's unemployment and law and order issues while urging caution against the BJP's tactics.
