Fadnavis Defends MGNREGA Renaming; Highlights Rural Development Gains

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has hit back at Congress for questioning the Center's decision to rename the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). Fadnavis emphasized that the Modi government's policies are yielding significant benefits for rural areas.
Speaking to reporters, Fadnavis pointed out that the Union Cabinet's approval of a bill to change MGNREGA's name to 'Poojya Bapu Grameen Rozgar Yojna' will also increase workdays under the scheme from 100 to 125. He dismissed Congress' criticism as a tactic to undermine government efforts, stating that these changes will enhance rural development.
Addressing political dynamics, Fadnavis expressed confidence about the alliance's prospects in upcoming municipal elections, asserting that the next mayor of Mumbai will be from the ruling Mahayuti. He also welcomed the legislative discussions taking place in Nagpur, highlighting the importance of dialogue over protest in a democratic setup.
