The interim government of Bangladesh, under Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, has declared a nationwide security clampdown following a violent incident involving an election candidate. Sharif Osmann Hadi, a youth leader, was shot by three assailants as he was launching his campaign for the February 12 general elections.

As Hadi battles for his life in critical condition, Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retired) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury announced the start of the second phase of Operation Devil Hunt at a press conference. This initiative is aimed at ensuring public safety and addressing the growing concern over illegal arms in the country.

Further escalating the situation, authorities have released a picture of one suspect, Faisal Karim Masud, and announced a Taka 50 lakh reward for information leading to his arrest. The security measures are part of an ongoing effort by the interim government to stabilize the nation amid political unrest.
