The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is bolstering its political presence in Maharashtra following a remarkable performance in the November 2024 assembly elections, as stated by BJP's chief spokesperson, Keshav Upadhye. The BJP achieved significant victories in civic polls, winning 1,430 seats across 29 municipal corporations.

The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance is poised to assume power in 25 out of these 29 municipal bodies, including the prominent city of Mumbai. This expansion occurs as the political footprint of other parties, such as Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), diminishes. Upadhye highlighted the fact that the number of municipal corporations increased from 27 to 29 with the inclusion of Ichalkaranji and Jalna.

In a detailed social media post, Upadhye noted the decline in the performance of rival parties, including the Ajit Pawar-led NCP and the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena. Smaller parties and independents also saw reduced representation, securing only 357 seats in total.
