Saudi Arabia's King Salman, at 90 years of age, resumed his leadership duties by personally chairing a cabinet meeting shortly after his release from a medical facility. This news was reported by Saudi state TV.
King Salman, whose nation stands as the world's largest oil exporter and a key ally of the United States in the Middle East, had visited a hospital in Riyadh on Friday for medical evaluations and was discharged the same day. State TV released a video, dated January 20, showcasing the king in action, although the footage could not be independently verified by Reuters.
During the meeting, King Salman expressed his support for former U.S. President Donald Trump's establishment of the Board of Peace. Previously, in 2024, King Salman had undergone treatment for lung inflammation.
