Opposition Uproar in Rajya Sabha Over Speech Denial

Opposition MPs in the Rajya Sabha protested vociferously as Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded to the President's Address, leading to a walkout. MPs demanded that Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge be allowed to speak, which was denied, igniting slogans and dissent from the opposition benches.

In a dramatic session on Thursday, Opposition MPs in the Rajya Sabha raised slogans and staged a walkout as Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his reply to the Motion of Thanks to the President's Address. The opposition demanded Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge be given a chance to speak, which was denied by Chairman CP Radhakrishnan.

This denial led to immediate protests, with MPs shouting slogans against the procedural outputs and perceived injustices. Despite the uproar, Prime Minister Modi continued his speech, even as opposition members walked out, protesting against the lack of opportunity for Kharge to address the house.

Outside Parliament, Kharge expressed frustration over not being allowed to speak, emphasizing that the structure of democracy relies on both houses. Opposition members underscored the importance of the institution of the Leader of the Opposition, likening it to the significance of the Prime Minister's role in parliamentary democracy.
