Amit Shah Rebuts Rahul Gandhi: Trade Deals Safeguard Farmers, Dairy Interests
Union Home Minister Amit Shah rebuked Congress and Rahul Gandhi for allegedly misleading farmers about trade agreements with the US, UK, and EU. He assured the protection of the agriculture and dairy sectors, emphasizing the government's commitment to farmers amidst Congress claims of detrimental effects from the agreements.
In a strong rebuke to the Congress party, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday accused its leader, Rahul Gandhi, of spreading misinformation about international trade agreements. Speaking at an event in Gandhinagar, Shah refuted claims that deals with the US, UK, and EU threatened Indian farmers' livelihoods.
Shah dismissed the allegations as unfounded and reaffirmed that the Narendra Modi-led government has effectively safeguarded the interests of the agriculture and dairy sectors. These sectors, he asserted, have been fully protected in every trade agreement signed, ensuring that farmers, cattle-rearers, and fishermen need not worry.
Countering opposition criticism, Shah challenged Rahul Gandhi for a debate, emphasizing the historical expansion of India's dairy sector under the current administration. Recent tariff reductions and a concluded EU free trade agreement further underline the government's economic strategy.
