The Jharkhand Assembly erupted into a fervent exchange on Wednesday as BJP MLAs confronted the treasury bench over the prohibition of DJ music during Ram Navami processions. The ban, enforced following a high court order, targets the use of high-decibel sound equipment, evocative of health concerns among the populace.
BJP MLA Pradeep Prasad rallied against the ban, arguing it interferes with established religious traditions. Before the assembly session, Prasad demonstrated his dissent by staging a protest, asserting that such a ban was discriminatory and undermined Hindu festivals, particularly highlighting the renowned Ram Navami procession in Hazaribagh.
In response, Congress leader Radha Krisha Kishore asserted that the controversy was being misrepresented, emphasizing that the ban was a public health measure. He also diverted the conversation towards foreign policy criticisms against the BJP-led central government, intensifying the session's confrontational atmosphere.
