In a contentious exchange in the Lok Sabha, Union Minister Giriraj Singh launched an attack on Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of deliberately creating confusion about India's position on the global stage. Singh's criticisms came amidst ongoing debates regarding national energy security amid escalating tensions in West Asia. Speaking to ANI, Singh alleged that Rahul Gandhi habitually questions the nation's foreign policy, calling such actions misleading and harmful.
The fray gained intensity as Rahul Gandhi voiced alarms over the potential threats to India's energy security, pointing to the ongoing conflict in West Asia. He specifically highlighted the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical artery for global oil transport, warning that it poses a severe risk to India. Gandhi said repercussions are already being felt domestically as panic rises over LPG availability, and he predicts that the damage from this crisis 'has just started.'
Meanwhile, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, reassured parliament that India has managed to secure its energy supplies effectively. Despite fears surrounding the Strait of Hormuz disruption, Puri detailed that alternative sourcing strategies have ensured stable gas production and supply. Addressing energy-related fears, Puri emphasized that the country's fuel supply chains remain intact and robust, offsetting potential shortfalls through strategic procurement and distribution.
