A recent report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) reveals that 32% of the Rajya Sabha MPs have declared criminal cases against themselves, while 14% are billionaires. The report scrutinized affidavits of 229 out of 233 sitting MPs.
Among these analyzed MPs, the report found 73 with criminal cases, including some facing serious charges like murder and crimes against women. Specific party analysis shows BJP with 27 MPs, Congress with 12, TMC with 4, and AAP with 4 declaring such charges.
Wealth analysis indicates a stark contrast, with 31 MPs owning assets worth billions. Notably, BRS MP Bandi Partha Saradhi leads with over Rs 5,300 crore, while AAP's Sant Balbir Singh is the least affluent. The study highlights the economic and ethical complexities within Indian politics.
