District officials from Assam's Kamrup and Meghalaya's West Khasi Hills conducted a collaborative inspection of the Langpih border area on Thursday. The assessment was part of preparations for the impending Assam Assembly elections. Langpih, a disputed zone claimed by both states, was a focal point of the inspection.

Kamrup Deputy Commissioner Deba Kumar Mishra and West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Hema Nayak led the inspection alongside senior police and civil officials from both regions. This incorporated Kamrup's superintendent of police, Subhashish Baruah, and West Khasi Hills' superintendent of police, Herbert Pyniaid Kharkongor, among others.

During the inspection, a joint session with local residents was organized at Lower Lumpi to ensure the elections are conducted peacefully. Emphasis was on proper coordination for the elections, involving 15 polling stations. This coordination ensures smooth and peaceful voting processes in past and present elections.
