Syria's 2026 budget is projected at $10.5 billion, nearly triple last year's amount. President Ahmed al-Sharaa aims to prioritize reducing displacement camps and rebuilding infrastructure. With foreign investments, the government outlines plans to restore services in war-affected regions and improve education and health sectors.
Syria's President Ahmed al-Sharaa announced on Friday a significant leap in the country's 2026 budget, set at approximately $10.5 billion, according to state TV. This marks nearly a threefold increase compared to last year's budget.
Al-Sharaa, speaking after Eid al-Fitr prayers in Damascus, emphasized the government's priority of dismantling displacement camps and facilitating the return of citizens. The budget also allocates considerable funding for the reconstruction of infrastructure in conflict-ridden regions like Idlib and Aleppo.
Syria aims for economic stability post-conflict, bolstered by foreign investments, including major projects backed by Gulf states. With around 40% of the 2026 budget earmarked for health and education, the government underscores its commitment to restoring vital services and fostering balanced international relations.
