During a campaign stop in Kerala, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi encountered an unusual passenger on a bus: a man dressed as 'Yamaraj', the Hindu God of Death. This meeting was part of a promotional push for the United Democratic Front's (UDF) proposed health insurance scheme.
Addressing the interaction in a video, Gandhi noted the UDF's Oommen Chandy Health Insurance Scheme aims to offer Rs 25 lakh in health coverage to every household in Kerala. This ambitious plan, it is suggested, could 'put Yamaraj out of work' as better healthcare prolongs life.
UDF's commitments further include free state transport bus travel for women, Rs 1,000 monthly for female college students, and interest-free loans up to Rs 5 lakh for small businesses. Kerala's polls are set for April 9, with results on May 4.
