The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched serious allegations against the Trinamool Congress (TMC), with spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla claiming the recent violence in Malda was a 'pre-planned experiment' sponsored by the TMC. Poonawalla pointed to Mofakkerul Islam, the main accused, allegedly seen with TMC's top leaders, including Mamata Banerjee.

The BJP alleges that the Trinamool Congress is politicizing institutions and fostering political violence to further its agenda. The political climate in West Bengal intensified after seven judicial officers were held hostage by villagers amid protests over deletions from the electoral rolls, a move that has sparked widespread demonstrations in Malda.

Authorities have arrested 35 individuals related to the Malda incident. ADG North Bengal, K Jayaraman, confirmed the arrest of Mofakkarul Islam and ensured that the investigation will determine whether the acts were pre-meditated. Law enforcement has provided CAPF protection to judicial officers, vowing to maintain order and prevent future hostilities.
