Telangana Jagruthi President, Kavitha Kalvakuntla, has publicly criticized the proposed Delimitation bill, expressing concern over its potential impact on the political representation of South Indian states. In a post on social media platform X, she argued that the South, which has historically been at the forefront of economic growth and family planning in India, deserves recognition rather than political marginalization.
Kavitha emphasized that Telangana's current 3.13% share in Parliament should be maintained as a minimum, insisting that the voice of the Telangana people should not be diluted under any pretext. She warned that any attempt by the government to diminish their representation would be met with fierce resistance, similar to the intensity of the Telangana Agitation.
Echoing these sentiments, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President KT Rama Rao issued a stern message to the central government, cautioning that any reduction in Southern states' representation could provoke significant public unrest. This comes amid government plans to increase Lok Sabha seats to 850, accommodating a 33% reservation for women by 2029, as part of a broader legislative agenda.
