BJP leader Dilip Ghosh announced that women from the party will hold a rally in Kharagpur to express gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the introduction of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, 2023. This bill guarantees a 33% reservation for women legislators, marking a significant step towards gender equality.

The rally announcement comes amidst heated debates around the Delimitation Bill, 2026. TMC MP Saugata Roy voiced his opposition, highlighting concerns that the bill might diminish the representation of southern states in Parliament. Despite these assertions, BJP leaders have dismissed these worries as political theatrics.

Meanwhile, Former Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi emphasized the historical importance of the women's reservation bill, calling it a historic moment of unity. She urged all parties to transcend political differences to support its implementation. Union Minister Amit Shah assured that the delimitation process would not adversely affect southern India's representation.
