In a sharp critique, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati labeled the Congress and Samajwadi Party (SP) as 'chameleons', accusing them of abandoning the interests of the Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Bahujan communities. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader's scathing remarks were in response to recent debates surrounding the women's reservation bill.

Mayawati pointed out the Congress's failure to implement the Mandal Commission's recommendations for OBC reservations, accusing the party of lacking initiative during its tenure in central government. She argued that the Congress would have similarly relied on outdated 2011 census figures to operationalize the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, had they been in power.

The BSP chief also criticized the SP for previously shelving the Backward Classes Commission Report to deny backward Muslims OBC benefits when governing Uttar Pradesh. She cautioned marginalized communities to remain vigilant against deceptive political promises, emphasizing self-reliance in the face of political neglect.
