In a spirited response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's comments, DMK leader Kanimozhi asserted the significance of the color black during the protest over the women's quota law amendment. She noted that black represents the goddess Kali and DMK's ideological leader Periyar, emphasizing the party's commitment to the cause.

Prime Minister Modi had earlier remarked that black attire worn by DMK members in Parliament was akin to 'kala tika,' traditionally used to ward off evil. However, Kanimozhi argued that for Hindus, the color also signifies strength, associating it with Kali, a powerful deity.

Kanimozhi, in her address, demanded urgent implementation of the women's reservation act by 2029 without linking it to the contentious delimitation. Simultaneously, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin expressed dissent by hoisting a black flag, labeling the delimitation bill a threat to Tamil people.
