Majumdar Applauds EC for Peaceful Polling, Raises Concerns on Violence in Bengal

Union minister Sukanta Majumdar commended the Election Commission for relatively peaceful polling during early voting hours in West Bengal. He emphasized ensuring a violence-free atmosphere for the rest of the day due to reported sporadic incidents, particularly in historically volatile districts like Murshidabad, amidst heavy security presence.

Union minister and former Bengal BJP president Sukanta Majumdar praised the Election Commission for the peaceful conduct of early polling hours in West Bengal.

Majumdar, after voting in Dakshin Dinajpur, encouraged voters to prioritize voting before breakfast, highlighting the importance of democratic participation.

Despite scattered reports of violence and a crude bomb incident in Murshidabad, heightened security with over 2,400 central forces is expected to maintain order.
