The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is gearing up to battle in court if the seven ex-party MPs are not disqualified for defecting to the BJP, as announced by Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh. The Rajya Sabha Chairman recognized the MPs' merger, prompting AAP's call for their disqualification under the anti-defection law.
Sanjay Singh expressed disappointment over the Chairman's disregard for AAP's objections and its demand for action under the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution. He asserts that the decision overlooked crucial constitutional implications.
AAP suffered a significant setback when seven of its 10 Rajya Sabha MPs defected, citing deviations from party values. If the disqualification demand remains unmet, AAP plans to escalate the issue to the judiciary, emphasizing the preservation of democratic integrity.
