Tensions Rise as Trump Reviews Iran Proposal Amid Stalled Negotiations
US President Donald Trump is considering a new proposal from Iran to end the stalled war, expressing skepticism and readiness to resume military action if provoked. The proposal also addresses reopening the Strait of Hormuz and lifting the US naval blockade, with further negotiations on Iran's nuclear program.
Amid escalating tensions, President Donald Trump indicated that military strikes against Iran might resume if Tehran 'misbehaves,' despite being engaged in reviewing a new proposal for peace from the country. Enroute to Miami, Trump expressed scepticism towards the proposal, underscoring that Iran hasn't sufficiently atoned for its past actions globally over nearly five decades.
Trump informed the media that he would examine the proposal during his flight to Miami, iterating that details were still forthcoming. While an aide later confirmed that no press conference would occur in Miami, Trump took to social media, expressing doubts about Iran's intentions and readiness to pay the necessary price for previous actions.
The Iranian proposal reportedly establishes a one-month window to negotiate terms such as reopening the Strait of Hormuz and ending hostilities. Trump, consulted by CENTCOM commander Adm. Brad Cooper, remains under pressure domestically due to soaring gas prices, emphasizing their decline post-war.
