The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is poised to make history by forming its first government in West Bengal after a sweeping victory in the state assembly elections. According to the Election Commission's trends on Monday, the BJP crossed the crucial 200-seat mark in the 294-member assembly.
In a grand celebration at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the party’s performance as a triumph of good governance. However, opposition figures Mamata Banerjee and Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP of electoral malpractice, describing the result as a 'stolen mandate.'
Alongside its West Bengal achievements, the BJP retained power in Assam and witnessed a political exclamation point in Tamil Nadu with actor-politician Vijay's party making a robust entry. Critics continue to question the fairness of the electoral process, spotlighting the BJP's consolidation of political dominance.
