India's Potential Role in West Asia Peace Efforts Highlighted by Iranian FM

Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi emphasized India's potential to contribute significantly to peace in West Asia, highlighting the region's challenges at a BRICS conclave in New Delhi. Discussing the complex situation in the Strait of Hormuz and strained US-Iran relations, he advocated for negotiated settlements over military solutions.

On Thursday, Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi underscored India's potential to take on a more influential role in fostering peace in West Asia. Speaking at a press conference, he emphasized that military solutions are ineffective for Iran-related conflicts.

He detailed Iran's readiness to assist in ensuring safe passage for vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, acknowledging the current complexity of the situation. At the BRICS conclave in New Delhi, Araghchi advocated for negotiations to resolve the West Asia crisis, inviting constructive participation from India.

Discussing US-Iran negotiations, Araghchi noted that trust issues plague the dialogue, while expressing hope for India's support. He mentioned that Pakistani mediation efforts have yet to fail, reiterating that Iran has no intentions of pursuing nuclear weapons.
