The U.S. Africa Command announced fresh airstrikes against the Islamic State in northeastern Nigeria, executed on Sunday with coordination from the Nigerian government.

No American or Nigerian military personnel were harmed in the attacks, according to AFRICOM. On Saturday, a successful collaborative mission by U.S. and Nigerian forces resulted in the death of Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, the Islamic State's second-in-command globally.

Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu praised the brave joint operation that significantly impacted the Islamic State's leadership, while U.S. President Donald Trump extended his appreciation to Nigeria for its effective partnership.
