A 27-year-old non-resident Indian (NRI) residing in Canada was allegedly robbed of his mobile phone by two motorcycle-borne assailants near Sher Shah Suri Road in New Delhi, police said on Monday.

A PCR call regarding the snatching incident was received at around 2.45 am on May 22 in Kartavya Path police station, they said.

The caller informed police that two unidentified persons riding a motorcycle had snatched a mobile phone from the complainant near the footpath on Sher Shah Suri Road before fleeing the spot.

The victim was identified as Sukhvinder, who is currently residing in Canada, Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Sachin Sharma said.

Based on his statement, police registered an FIR under relevant sections of the BNS and initiated an investigation into the incident.

Police said multiple teams have been constituted to trace and apprehend the accused persons. CCTV footage from nearby areas and routes is being examined to establish the identity and movement of the suspects.

Efforts are underway to identify the motorcycle used in the crime and track the accused, police added.
