Pathway to Peace: A U.S.-Iran Framework Evolving
An unofficial framework to end the longstanding conflict between the U.S. and Iran is in development. The draft outlines conditions such as resuming commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz by Iran and a U.S. military withdrawal. Negotiations continue with Pakistan's mediation following hostile exchanges with Israel.
According to Iran's state TV, Tehran has secured a draft outline for a tentative agreement with the United States aimed at resolving their ongoing conflict.
The proposed framework calls for Iran to restore commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz to prior levels within a month, while the U.S. would withdraw its military presence near Iran and lift a naval blockade. State TV emphasized that the draft, which excludes military vessels, is still being finalized and that Iran would require strict verification before taking further action.
If finalized in 60 days, the agreement could become a binding U.N. Security Council resolution. This effort follows indirect talks facilitated by Pakistan, initiated after a war broke out in February post-escalation between Iran and Israel, which drew U.S. military involvement.
