The illustrious North and South Blocks of New Delhi are set for a grand transformation into the 'Yuge Yugeen Bharat' National Museum. As disclosed by Culture Minister Shekhawat, a consortium chosen through a global tender will handle this massive project, aiming to complete its first phase by 2028.

The museum, poised to surpass the Louvre in Paris in scale, will house over 950 rooms across nearly 1.5 lakh square meters. It will feature eight thematic sections narrating India's rich 5,000-year history, uniting original architectural elements with necessary modern adaptations for museum purposes.

These iconic buildings, originally designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and Sir Herbert Baker, are undergoing restoration to reflect their initial construction. Future changes include adding glass roofs to courtyards and connecting the buildings through an underground tunnel to enhance visitor experience.

The comprehensive exhibits will draw from national and international collections, showcasing artifacts from numerous Indian and global institutions. Expectations run high for the transformed blocks to become a hub of cultural tourism in the heart of Delhi.
