The BJP-led administration in West Bengal is gearing up for a significant cabinet expansion, with 35 new ministers slated to take their oaths of office on Monday morning. The move is designed to bolster the government's capacity and ensure a broad representation of communities.
The ceremony, scheduled for 11 a.m. at Lok Bhavan, will be overseen by Governor RN Ravi. This expansion comes shortly after Suvendu Adhikari's swearing-in as chief minister, marking a major political shift in the state after the BJP's decisive election victory that ended the Trinamool Congress's extended reign.
The introduction of the new ministers will raise the current cabinet count to 41, a strategic decision following discussions that BJP leaders, including Suvendu Adhikari and state party chief Samik Bhattacharya, held with the party's central committee in New Delhi.
These appointments are crafted to reflect the state's diverse demographic, encapsulating representation from Brahmin, OBC, tribal, Matua, and Rajbanshi communities, which signifies the BJP's drive towards inclusive governance.
