Kyiv's Fractured Dawn: Russian Missile Strikes Sow Destruction
A Russian attack on Kyiv has left at least four people injured and caused significant damage to infrastructure. The Ukrainian capital faced severe missile strikes, with casualties reported and fires breaking out in multiple districts. Authorities have issued warnings of further strikes amid ongoing conflict.
Amid intense geopolitical tensions, Kyiv was jolted awake by a major Russian attack early Tuesday. At least four people were reported injured, and extensive damage was observed, particularly to a 24-storey apartment building that collapsed after being struck, said Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
The Podil district faced significant fallout, with reports of a fire in a non-residential property and a nine-storey building catching fire. The Obolon district wasn't spared either as missile debris ignited cars, and fires broke out in open areas near a kindergarten, Klitschko reported.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy had previously warned of possible massive Russian strikes. With both nations denying intentional targeting of civilians, the conflict continues, with no resolution in sight since Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022.
