The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) teams worked through the night to pump out water from Old Rajinder Nagar, which was left submerged following heavy rains. The area had previously seen a tragic incident where three students died in a flooded coaching center basement.
A senior MCD official reported that the water velocity in the barrel drain helped in removing both the water and silt from the drainage system, contributing to the draining efforts. Despite this, the area was still inundated, with videos surfacing online showing flood-like conditions.
Deputy Commissioner of Karol Bagh Zone, Abhishek Kumar Mishra, confirmed that MCD officials and sanitation workers were able to pump out a significant amount of water by late Wednesday night. The MCD continues to work on clearing other waterlogged spots and removing encroachments on stormwater drains.
