Avalanche Strikes BRO Camp: Rescue Operations Underway in Chamoli

An alarming avalanche descended near Mana village, Uttarakhand, trapping 41 BRO workers on Friday. A total of 57 men were buried by the snow, with 16 successfully rescued so far, Chamoli District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari confirmed.
The incident occurred on the India-Tibet border, just three kilometers from Badrinath at an altitude of 3,200 meters. Authorities, including the Chief Minister, are concentrating on rescue efforts, employing the help of ITBP and other departments.
A warning had been issued the previous day for potential avalanches above 2,400 meters in several districts, including Chamoli. Local officials and rescue teams remain vigilant as they fight adverse weather conditions to ensure the safety of the remaining workers.
