In a significant move to enhance water management in Delhi, the BJP government is set to lower the charges for water connections, as revealed by Water Minister Parvesh Verma on Thursday. This initiative is part of a broader plan to improve the water distribution system in the national capital.
The reforms include the installation of GPS devices in all Delhi Jal Board tankers, which will help monitor their movements and ensure timely water delivery. Additionally, a new four-digit helpline is being introduced to simplify public complaints related to the Public Works Department.
Pointing to current issues, Verma highlighted the high rates of illegal connections compared to legal ones and stressed the need for citizens to regularize their water connections. This initiative also involves cooperation with local MLAs and residents for efficient water management.
