In Uganda, a group of elderly women have taken to fitness classes, jogging in pairs while donning traditional dresses. This initiative aims to tackle rising noncommunicable diseases, including hypertension and diabetes, by promoting an active lifestyle. Over 1,000 people have joined since its inception five years ago.
On the financial front, shares of Fleury, a prominent Brazilian medical diagnostics company, surged by over 15% following talks of a possible acquisition by hospital chain Rede D'Or. Analysts anticipate that the merger could lead to significant synergies within the healthcare sector.
As Fleury became the top performer on the Bovespa stock index with a 0.6% rise, Rede D'Or also experienced a 1.2% increase in its share value, reflecting the positive market sentiment towards the potential deal.
