In Thane city, a potential disaster was averted when four houses were evacuated early Monday after a wall collapse in the Wagle Estate area. The collapse occurred at around 1:30 a.m., prompting swift action from the Thane Municipal Corporation.
The incident, described by TMC Disaster Management Cell chief Yasin Tadvi, involved the wall of a house owned by Shakuntala Yadav falling against an adjacent house owned by Pandurang Padekar. Despite no injuries, the civic officials deemed four houses dangerous, evacuating them as a safety measure.
Residents were advised to stay with relatives while authorities from the Wagle Ward Committee and the Civil Construction Department assess the structures for stability. Meanwhile, Mahavitaran officials inspected for any electrical hazards to ensure residents' safety is maintained.
