Maharashtra's transport minister, Pratap Sarnaik, has urged Thane municipal officials to expedite the service road construction on the Ghodbunder corridor to meet a January 15 deadline. The push was made during a Friday review meeting, where Sarnaik emphasized the importance of concluding all near-completion projects by December 15 in preparation for Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's inauguration ceremony.
The meeting brought together several key figures, including Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao and representatives from multiple governmental bodies such as the TMC, MMRDA, and PWD. To alleviate ongoing traffic issues on Ghodbunder Road, five Regional Transport Department squads will be deployed to assist local traffic police, according to Sarnaik.
A press release also highlighted Thane's initiatives in waste management, notably the conversion of 96 tonnes of daily wet waste into fertilizer at the Gaimukh project. This is the first effort in the state of its kind. Additionally, the construction of a third theatre at Waghbil aims to enhance Thane's cultural infrastructure.
