In a swift response to structural instability, authorities in Jaipur demolished a multi-storey building in Malviya Nagar on Sunday. Observers noted that cracks began to appear, and the building started leaning heavily the day before the intervention. JCB machines were employed to safely bring down the edifice, officials confirmed.
The demolition prompted a heated response from the building's owner, who argued that the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) had not sought any legal or technical consultation before commencing the demolition. The owner claimed that despite the municipal corporation's prior approval and a significant planning fee, the action was unexpected and unwarranted.
Located on a modest plot, the nearly complete building was compromised due to excavation activities near its foundation. Co-owner Naresh Manwani revealed that the construction involved iron stairs installation, during which a shifting pillar caused the lean. The structure was temporarily supported with cranes before the dismantling.
