Lal, a resident of nearby Chivalu village, was ambushed by the leopard on Monday evening while returning from work, dragging him 50 meters into the bushes. Villagers discovered his lifeless body in the morning.
As tension rose, forest officials were pressured by villagers to assure swift action. Compensation proceedings for Lal's family are in progress, while authorities have set up cages and cameras to capture or tranquilize the leopard, with orders to kill if necessary.
