In an exclusive conversation with former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu on Star Sports, Indian bowling icon Mohammed Shami divulged his secret to staying match-fit. At 34, Shami adheres to a stringent diet, eating only one meal a day and steering clear of sweets.

Shami has been pivotal in India's Champions Trophy campaign, recently capturing five wickets against Bangladesh, becoming the quickest Indian to reach 200 ODI wickets. Intriguingly, after an ankle injury sidelined him for 14 months post the 2023 ODI World Cup, he has remarkably bounced back.

His rehabilitation involved shedding nine kilograms gained during recovery, attributing his success to personal discipline. Even though he occasionally indulges in biryani, Shami's dedication to fitness remains unwavering as he prepares for upcoming matches, including a critical game against Pakistan.
