Super Rugby, a highly competitive rugby union tournament, has a rich history of champions since its establishment in 1996. Teams like the Canterbury Crusaders and Auckland Blues have repeatedly proven their superiority on the field, with the Crusaders securing numerous titles over the years.
Initially starting as the Super 12, the competition evolved to become Super 14 in 2006, before transitioning to Super Rugby with 15 teams and later expanding to 18 teams in 2016. Most recently, it has been rebranded as Super Rugby Pacific with 11 to 12 teams since 2022.
The tournament has seen disruptions due to the COVID pandemic, with local competitions held in 2020 and 2021. Despite these challenges, the legacy and prestige of winning the Super Rugby title remain a coveted goal for teams across the southern hemisphere.
