Australia's national soccer team coach, Tony Popovic, has included promising midfielder Alex Robertson in his lineup for upcoming friendlies against World Cup hosts, the United States and Canada. The young, Wales-based player returns to the Socceroos following a two-year hiatus.
Robertson, whose father and grandfather also represented Australia, was last seen in the national colors against Argentina in 2023. Initially reported as unavailable, the issues preventing his selection have now been resolved, allowing the Cardiff City midfielder to join a 25-man squad for matches in Canada and the U.S.
The squad sees eight changes, including the return of veteran goalkeeper Mat Ryan and new call-ups like Nicholas D'Agostino and Cameron Devlin. The reassembled team seeks to maintain their 10-match unbeaten streak. Notably, Sam Silvera and Ryan Teague have been excluded from this selection.
